Cricket – Rules n Regulations

Contact : Gaurav K Misra

• Cricket kit and First Aid Kit will be provided by the organisers.
• Cricket kit only includes Bats, Stumps, Keeping Gloves only. No other accessories will be provided.
• Every team is required to have a 11 member squad out of which only 8 can field on the ground. All the 11 members can bat.
• There will not be any declaration of player’s innings.

• During Round-robin phase, all the morning games will start at 8:30m but no later than 8.45 am and all the afternoon games will start at 12:30 pm but no later than 1.00 pm. Three breaks will be allowed through the match; first break after the 10th over of the first innings, second break after the first innings and the last break after the 10th over of the second innings. Duration of each break will be 10 minutes long.

• Umpiring and Scoring will be done by the team members of the non-playing team. Volunteers will be needed and individual team captains’s will be requested to provide 2 players for umpiring/scoring. The teams should send the name of the 2 volunteers for Umpiring and Scoring to the organizers at least 36 hrs prior to the game (before 5 pm, Thursday for a game on Saturday). It will be highly impossible without volunteers from every team to organize a Cricket Tournament that includes 5 teams and 11 games, your \co-operation is highly appreciated.
• Tournament will be played with hard tennis ball and all the matches will be 20 overs per side.
• Bowling teams are required to complete their allotted 20 overs in their allotted time of 90 minutes.
• Maximum number of overs any player is allowed to bowl in an inning will be 4.
• Each winning team gets 2 points and loosing team will get 0 point. If any of the matches end as Tie or cancelled due to rain or any other reason each team will get 1 point. No rescheduling for round-robin matches is allowed, organizers will reschedule the finals once in case of rain or any other eventuality. If the finals has to be abandoned a second time, both the finalists will be declared joint-winners.
• After Round-robin games the Top Two teams based on points will go to the Finals. If there is a tie between two or more teams the team with better Net Run Rate (NRR) will be placed higher. NRR is run rate differential between RRF (Runs Scored/Overs played) and RRA (Runs Given/ Overs Bowled).

• Every team should come with at least 8 players, if any team has less than 8 players on their match scheduled day and time, then the organizers have every right to declare the opponent team as winners (This is subjected to the fact that the opponent team is present on the ground with at least 8 players).

• In case any match gets interrupted because of rain or other reason, a match is deemed a regular game if there is a possibility of both teams playing at least 10 overs per side. If play couldn’t take place for at least 10 overs per side the match will be abandoned and both the teams will be awarded 1 point each.
• If a match is terminated due to weather after 15 overs in the second innings then the result will be declared by Umpires and Organizers based on higher run rate (D/L method).
• All the general rules of Cricket will be followed including runs for leg-byes (only if the batsman offers a stroke) and over throws. Exception includes LBWs, Supersubs and 30 yard restrictions.
• A batsman can use a by-runner if and only if the batsman is able to convince the umpires that he is hurt and/ or cannot sustain running between the wickets at a reasonable speed.

• The best performer of each game will be awarded with Man-of-Match (MOM) trophy and the best performer of the series will be awarded with Man-of- the-series (MOS). Umpires and organizers together will decide MOM awards after each game and MOS award will be decided by organizers, after the finals.

• No replacements will be allowed during the Round Robin League but 1 Replacement will be accomodated during the FINALS. So, any of the two teams (in FINALS) can replace a player from their team with any other player who has played before in the round robin matches (from any other team).
• Finally, Sledging is strictly not entertained and Umpires have every right to give a no-ball if they don’t like it.

• Organizers have discretion to make a final decision on any other rule that has not been mentioned above.
